It is 6 AM in the morning when I head to Grace at the Greenlight which operates out of St Jude Community Center, New Orleans, LA. When I approach the front door there are already 40 to 50 folks who have been gathering and lining up to receive a hot cup of coffee and breakfast. That line will grow to about 200 homeless individuals when the doors open at 6:30 a.m. Slowly but surely the volunteers start showing up but George the Chef has already been there since around 3:30 a.m. preparing the food. Grace at the Greenlight offers a safe warm place for our siblings to gather every morning seven days a week. I listen to so many stories from our siblings who are unhoused regarding their daily challenges and I pray that the Holy Spirit will give me words of comfort and that the Light of Christ will shine forth from my being where God abides.
